Starlight was founded in 1986 by Emma Samms and Peter Samuelson.   Emma lost her Brother to aplastic anaemia at the age of 9, the impact on the family was immeasurable.  So when many years later she granted a wish to a young boy with a brain tumour and saw the positive effect it had on him and his family, Starlight was born.

If you have ever been ill or known someone that has, you will know that the treatment is often, as bad as or worse than the illness.  The children that Starlight work with, often spend days, weeks or months in and out of hospitals, having to deal with unpleasant and painful procedures.  Starlight grants wishes these children wishes of a lifetime, for them and their family to enjoy, no matter what the future holds.

There are many children waiting for wishes, each wish is different because young minds are so imaginative and creative. With your help we will be able to help Starlight make their wishes, reality.

In our annual newsletter we will introduce you to each child you've granted a wish to and let you know what wish they enjoyed.
